Kane Scored Two Goals On 100th Appearance

LONDON: England captain Harry Kane celebrated his 100th appearance for the Three Lions by scoring twice in a 2-0 win over Finland in the UEFA Nations League at Wembley.

The 31-year-old Bayern Munich forward, who received the golden cap award before kick-off, opened the scoring in the 57th minute of the League B Group 2 action.

Finland’s goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky’s brilliant performance saw Kane miss several times in the visitors’ goal, but his effort in the 78th minute secured England’s second win under caretaker manager Lee Carsley.

Kane, who now extends his scoring record for his country to 68 goals, was substituted in the 80th minute.

After the victory over Ireland in the first match last Saturday, England now share the top spot with Greece who beat Ireland 2-0 earlier this morning.

Kane is now regarded as England’s best striker after becoming the third player to score on his 100th appearance, with Wayne Rooney and Bobby Charlton only scoring once in their respective historic games.

“It’s an important night for me, very proud. I want to score and help the team. When you’re in doubt, it makes you more motivated to prove them wrong,” Kane said.
