LIVERPOOL, England: Arne Slot enjoyed a perfect start as Liverpool boss at Anfield with Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah scoring in a 2-0 win over Brentford on Saturday.
The Reds join Manchester City, Arsenal and Brighton as the teams that have taken maximum points from two games in the new Premier League season.
A tougher test awaits Slott following his difficult task of replacing Jurgen Klopp, starting with the trip to Manchester United this weekend.
However, the early signs were positive for the manager from the Netherlands when his team had not yet conceded a goal and showed superiority in the attacking machine, led by Salah.
“Most of the players are quite familiar with what we want because it’s not much different to what Jurgen has done before,” Slot said after continuing his winning streak following a win over Ipswich in the opening week of the league.
“We still have something to prove against a team that could finish in the top six.”
Slott is expected to inject a more possession-focused approach than what Klopp has done in his nearly nine years in charge of the English giants.
“In the first half there was more energy for the opposing team, so in the second half it led to open spaces for us,” explained Slot.
“Finally Brentford lost the energy to defend against us.”
Slot received thunderous applause and cheers at the end of the match from 60,000 fans who chanted his name – just as Klopp had instructed at his farewell party last May.
